This is my first effort at using frames. I'm not particularly fond of them, mainly because I detest being caught in "someone elses".
However, I feel they are useful when setting up pages with top borders. Without them the graphical image is "lost".
All links have target="_top" to make sure you won't get stuck in my frames!
I found no exact formula for this type of frame, but found a very comprehensive tutorial on border frames at "Jmac Designs". Janet's tutorial addresses design requirements and HTML for top, bottom, and corner frames. A key lesson, I learned by trial and error, is to make sure the image's width dimension can be multiplied to an even 800 pixel screen width - when designing
top borders. The HTML also requires separate pages for each section of the main page as well as the page itself (ie: top border, bottom frame and then the whole page encompassing each of
the previous). All images separate from the top border are done on the bottom HTML page (ie:button, bullets, headers, text, etc.).
The floral graphic is rendered from one of the brushes from "Destiny's Lady" . It is rotated (on a new layer from the background) and the cut-out effect applied using "Nannie's Brush Tutorial" as prepared by " LadyThumper".
The colour fill in "Thumper's" grainsmooth psd texture is R=57, G=145, B=144. I really love teal in all it's different shades! The bevel is done using R=138, G=185, B=185 and a Blade Pro preset, bevel soft.q9q by
"Web Graphics On A Budget" was applied to same.
The same bevel is used on bars, buttons and bullets.
This is just one example of the many talents of Mardi Wetmore. Her tutorials are a must for any new PSP 5 user.
The image on the button is the same brush without the cutout effect. The font is "Hancock" in the same colour as the fill on the grainsmooth pattern with the bevel soft preset applied to it. The buttons and welcome header are the letter "H" from the "Button-Button" font.
