The next step that I took was to put a "pattern fill" in each part of the dress. I used my "purple gingham" sample that I made, but you can use any texture that you like! *smile*
Go to each layer separately, beginning with the "dress" and then "select it" by using the selection tool ...with the following settings: Selection Type= "rectangle", Feather= "0", Antialias= "unchecked". Put a rectangle around the part you want to select...and then "click" in the middle of it. Make sure that you don't accidentally "move it". *smile*
Make sure that your pattern sample is loaded in PSP, and that your "foreground and background" are loaded with that pattern something like the color palette shown below, but with your pattern of choice"
Fill each of your dress parts with your pattern using the . Remember to "save" your image after each selection and pattern fill! Your image should now look similar to the one below, only twice as big, and with your pattern fill:
The next steps will involve examples of "shading techniques". Please remember that this tutorial is one of "technique examples", and not one where I instruct you how to make a duplicate image of something that I have already made! All of the preceeding steps can be used to make any item of clothing, be it for a female, or male bear. You are the artist! *smile*
We'll start with "shading techniques" using the "airbrush tool" . I usually use the "dropper tool" first, to select a dark colour from my pattern, (in this example it was the dark purple from the gingham, only a tad darker). Make sure that the "foreground and background" colours are the same. Next, select your article of clothing that you are going to use this shading technique on...in this example it is the "dress". Then select the airbrush tool with the following settings:
Feel free to adjust any of these settings to your personal choice...they are only a guideline. Next, go around the "outline" of your selected article of clothing...just putting a touch of the spray tool paint around the edges. Repeat this process for the sleeves.
Go to the next page for further instructions! *smile*
